Here are four easy recipes to make your own DIY (Do It Yourself) natural deodorant with essential oils.
1. Geranium Essential Oil Deodorant:
Geranium oil is extracted from flowers and it smells very refreshing. It contains antibacterial properties that combat body odor. This essential oil is also used as a skin-tightening agent, so it will provide added benefit to the health of your underarms and help lighten them. To make a DIY deodorant with geranium essential oil, add five to six drops of the geranium oil and five to six tablespoons of water in a spray bottle and shake it well. This is the easiest DIY recipe for a natural deodorant.
2. Natural Shea Butter Essential Oil Deodorant:
For this essential oil deodorant recipe, you do not need any specific essential oil; just choose your favorite. You will, however, need the following ingredients:
- Any essential oil of your choice
- 3 tablespoons coconut oil
- 2 tablespoons shea butter
- 3 tablespoons baking soda
- Either 3 tablespoons of organic cornstarch or 3 tablespoons of arrowroot, whichever you have on hand
Melt shea butter and coconut oil together in a pot over low heat. Remove mixture from heat and add arrowroot or cornstarch. Add baking soda, mixing well to make sure there are no lumps. Add five to six drops of essential oil and mix well. Spoon into in an empty deodorant stick container.
3. Lavender Essential Oil Deodorant
Lavender essential oil is one of the oldest and most commonly used in aromatherapy. It helps calm anxiety and minimizes the feelings of depression. It can also relieve insomnia and reduce stress.
For this recipe essential oil deodorant recipe, you need the following ingredients:
- 10 to 15 drops of lavender oil
- ½ cup coconut oil
- ¼ cup baking soda
- ¼ cup arrowroot or organic cornstarch
Warm the coconut oil to just melting. Remove from heat and add baking soda and arrowroot or cornstarch. Add the lavender essential oil and mix well. Keep it in a spray bottle or in an old deodorant stick.
4. Multi Essential Oil Deodorant:
This essential oil deodorant recipe includes two essential oils. You will need the following ingredients:
- 4 drops bergamot essential oil
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or white vinegar
- 4 drops lavender essential oil
- 3 tablespoons of water
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. You can also pour them directly into your container and shake.
These natural DIY deodorants with essential oils will not only help you smell good but they are a great alternative to commercial products loaded with harmful chemicals.
